Mesa Verde
We drove out to Mesa Verde National Park one day--it's about an hour from Durango. Actually, the park entrance is about 40 minutes away, but there's a long drive inside the park to get to the Visitors' Center. The park was beautiful.
This photo is from the drive in:
Matt and I both took a tour of Cliff Palace,
an Ancestral Puebloan city that housed about 100 people. These photos are from that tour:
Matt also took a tour of Balcony House--I wimped
out because there were so many ladders involved,
but Matt thinks I could have managed it. Here's his tour group in the balcony--no, I can't tell you which
one he is.
I love this shot of the mountains in the distance over the mesa:
And here are some other photos from Mesa Verde:
After leaving Mesa Verde we drove out to Four Corners, possibly the biggest tourist trap I've ever seen. Somewhere we have a disposable camera with photos of both of us standing in four states at once; if I find it I'll upload them. It was fun to see it, but once was plenty.
