Cheering Stations Day 1 - Monday, July 22nd, 2002
Location #1:
St.Luke’s Catholic Church - St. Paul, MN
Best Time:
6:45am - 7:45am
Directions:
I-94 to Lexington Exit. South on Lexington. Turn left onto Portland Avenue.
Parking:
On the first and second blocks of Portland after you turn. St. Luke’s and Summit are one block south.
Location #2:
Minnesota State Capitol - St. Paul, MN (75 Constitution Ave.)
Best Time:
7:30 am - 8:30 am
Directions:
Take the 12th St. exit off of I-94. Turn right onto Jackson St. Then, turn left onto University Ave East. Turn left onto Robert St. N and finally take an immediate right onto Constitution Ave.
Parking:
Parking is available on side streets.
Location #3:
Historic Stillwater Courthouse - Stillwater, MN
Best Time:
8:30 am - 11:30 am
Directions:
Take Hwy 494/694 from St. Paul to Hwy 36. Hwy 36 will lead you into Stillwater. Take Manning Ave. N off of Hwy 36 until you reach 75th St. N. This will turn into Myrtle St. Then, take a right onto S 3rd street. 3rd street will intersect with Pine Street.
Parking:
Parking available on side streets and the lot across the street. Spectators should stand on sidewalk.
Location #4:
Red Cedar Trail Trailhead - Menomonie, WI

(State Road 29 and Red Cedar River)
Best Time:
3pm - 7pm
Directions:
Heading North-West on I-94, take Hwy 25 South. Then, head West on Hwy 29 to Trailhead, which will be on your left. Trailhead is found where State Road 29 crosses the river.
Parking:
Parking is available at Trailhead and on side streets
Cheering Stations Day 2 - Tuesday, July 23rd, 2002
Location #1:
Red Cedar Trailhead - Menomonie, WI
Best Time:
6:30am - 8:30am
Directions:
Heading North-West on I-94, take Hwy 25 South. Then, head West on Hwy 29 to Trailhead, which will be on your left. Trailhead is found where State Road 29 crosses the river.
Parking:
Parking is available at the Red Cedar Trail.
Notes:
Come surprise the Riders, as they begin Day 2 on the Red Cedar Trail, 14.5 miles of old railroad bed. This trail begins in Menomonie, goes through the historic lumber town of Downsville, and ends at the Chippewa River Valley. It serves more than 40,000 visitors who hike, bike, walk, and cross-country ski throughout the year.
Location #2:
A & W - Whitehall, WI
Best Time:
10:00am - 3:00pm
Directions:
Take Hwy 121 off of I-94 until you reach Hwy 53. Follow Hwy 53 southwest into Whitehall. A&W will be along Hwy 53/Main St. in Whitehall.
Parking:
Parking is available at A&W (limited) as well as along the side streets throughout Whitehall.
Notes:
Located near the Trempealeau River in scenic West Central Wisconsin, this site offers plenty of outdoor activities. From canoe adventures to park recreation, everyone can find their niche in Whitehall.
Location # 3:
Lunda Park - Black River Falls, WI (14th St. & Tyler St.)
Best Time:
3pm - 7pm
Directions:
Take I-94 to Hwy 54. Hwy 54 briefly becomes Hwy 12/27 in Black River Falls, but remain straight until you are back on Hwy 54. Turn right off of Hwy 54 on Fillmore St. Take a left on S 11th St. Finally, take a right onto Pierce.
Parking:
Limited parking available at park. Park along side streets to avoid creating any traffic in this area.
Cheering Stations Day 3 - Wednesday, July 24th , 2002
Location #1:
Along Main St. (Between 8th St. and Hwy 12/27) - Black River Falls, WI
Best Time:
6:30am - 8:30am
Directions:
Take I-94 to Hwy 54. Hwy 54 briefly becomes Hwy 12/27. The cheering stations will be on Hwy 54 (Main St.) after Hwy 12/27, but before 8th St.
Parking:
Please do not park on Main St. in order to avoid creating additional traffic hazards.
Location #2:
Corner of Pine St. and Main St. - Warrens, WI
Best Time:
9am - 12pm
Directions:
Take Hwy 71/Main St. into downtown Warrens, until you reach Pine St.
Parking:
Park along the streets of Warrens.
Location #3:
Adams-Friendship High School - Adams, WI (420 North Main Street)
Best Time:
11am - 4pm
Directions:
Take I-90/94 towards Wisconsin Dells. Then, take the Hwy 13 exit North. This will take you directly into Adams. The High School will be right along Hwy 13 (Main Street).
Parking:
Parking is available in the High School parking lot as well as along the streets
Cheering Stations Day 4 - Thursday, July 25th, 2002
Location #1:
Faith United Methodist Church - Westfield, WI (404 South Main Street)
Best Time:
6:30am - 8:30am
Directions:
Off of I-90/94 take Hwy 39/51 North. Merge onto Hwy 39 North. Exit at County Rd. E/County Rd. J toward Westfield. Turn left onto E 2nd St. Then, turn right onto Main St.
Parking:
There is a small parking lot available at Faith United Methodist Church.
Location #2:
Washington Square Park (liberty street) - Packwaukee, WI
Best Time:
7am - 9am
Directions:
Take the Hwy 39/51 exit North off of I-90/94. Merge onto Hwy 39, which will lead to the County Road D exit towards Packwaukee. Turn right onto County Road D. This will lead into Packwaukee.
Parking:
Parking is available on side streets, please take any trash with you.
Location #3:
Corner of Tower Dr. and Park Ave/Ingalsbee St. and along Ludington St. between Columbus Park and James St. - Columbus, WI
Best Time:
9am - 1:30pm
Directions:
Take Hwy 151 off of I-90/94. Then, take the Hwy 73/151 exit towards Columbus. This will turn into Park Ave, which intersects Tower Dr. and Ingalsbe St. and goes on to become Ludington St.
Parking:
Please park on side streets to avoid creating additional traffic hazards.
Location #4:
St. Paul’s Lutheran Church - Waterloo, WI (226 E Madison St./Hwy 19)
Best Time:
11am - 3:30pm
Directions:
Take I-94 off of I-90/94. Then, take the Hwy 73 exit toward Marshall/Deerfield. Take a left onto Hwy 73. Turn right onto Hwy 73/19 and stay straight to continue on Hwy 19. St. Paul’s is along Hwy 19.
Parking:
Parking is available in the church parking lot as well as along streets in Waterloo.
Cheering Stations Day 5 - Friday, July 26th, 2002
Location #1:
St. Patrick’s Church - Whitewater, WI (126 South Elizabeth St. - corner of Main St./Hwy 12 and Elizabeth)
Best Time:
8am - 11am
Directions:
Going North on I-90, take Hwy 26 North towards Milton. Then, turn right onto Hwy 59, which will lead you to Hwy 12. Taking a left onto Hwy 12 will bring you into Whitewater, where it intersects Elizabeth St.
Parking:
Parking is available in the back of the church.
Location #2:
Seminary Park (Pit Stop #5) - Lake Geneva, WI
Best Time:
2pm - 4pm
Directions:
From the south, take Hwy. 120 north to Lake Geneva. Entrance is on the right.
Parking:
Available in the Park. Please park a safe distance away from the Pit Stop
Location #3:
The Wisconsin/Illinois State line - Genoa City, WI
Best Time:
3pm - 5pm
Directions:
In Illinois, take Hwy. 12 north to Hwy. 173 and turn left (westbound) then turn right on Keystone (becomes Fellows Street in WI)
Parking:
Available on side streets.
Notes:
Come welcome the Riders into Illinois and bring a decorated “Welcome to Illinois” sign!
Cheering Stations Day 6 - Saturday, July 27th, 2002
Location #1:
Chicago Park District Lake Front path at Hollywood and Bryn Mawr. - Chicago, IL
Best Time:
12pm - 3pm
Directions:
Take Lake Shore Drive to the Bryn Mawr exit, which leads directly to the Hollywood Beach parking area.
Parking:
Parking is available in the designated parking area at Hollywood Beach.
Notes:
Cheer on riders as they peddle their final miles of the Heartland AIDSRide.
Location #2:
Closing Ceremonies, Montrose Harbor - Chicago, IL
Ceremony Begins:
4:30pm
Directions:
Take Lake Shore Drive to the Montrose Avenue exit.
Parking:
Find street parking where it is available.
