The Toenail Story

Here's what happened to my toenail:  Matt and I went skiing last March.  My left ski boot was pressing down uncomfortably on my big toe, and it ended up getting very, very bruised.  It hurt like crazy for about a week; after that it wasn't bad.  As it started to grow out, it loosened on one side, but the rest was still attached.  So I've just been pretty much ignoring it.

Wednesday night, however, as I was putting on a sock after a shower, my toenail got caught on the sock and pulled almost all the way off.  I wasn't sure what to do about it, so I stopped by the medical tent.  They ended up cutting off most of the toenail, leaving just a little bit on the right side, and wrapping the toe with moleskin.  It felt fine and didn't bother me at all the rest of the ride.  Yesterday I pulled of the rest of the nail, so I now have a big toe with about half a newly-grown nail.  No polish this summer.
